Gravato Old Vines 2008
This "Gravato Old Vines" is a ruby coloured wine produced from a blend of white and red grapes. Coming from vineyards with more than 60 years, with the help of the knowledge acquired from the producing of our palhetes. Sustained by a terroir composed by quartz granite which give it a natural freshness, which allows a cooler consumption.
Vinified in our cellar at “Quinta dos Barreiros”, located in Coriscada, Mêda region, from a blend of white grape variety Síria Velha (or Códega do Larinho) and red grape varieties (Rufete). Despite being a varietal, due a presence of 95% Rufete.
All the elaboration process it's based in the natural production. The characteristics of the soil, the quality of the grapes, the microclimate, the hygiene in the production and the techniques used in more developed wine countries, conceive a healthy wine plus unique qualities, keeping all the good features of a wine farm without the oak aging.
With strong aromas and a long light palate, this wine will bring you, for sure, many moments of pleasure.

Tasting of 2011. Old vines, vines with 60 years. Medium concentration in the colour, so very vegetable aroma so linked to a traditional profile but very interesting, exactly for the difference. Smooth on the mouth, light tannins won't disturb the tasting and good acidity allow immediate taste and tell us that with this profile it will be a success in the table. |
A curiosity. A special wine, a red that should be drank fresh. Who else could make a wine like this other than Luís Roboredo. It brings us already with his serious reds, with the wonderful Palhetes and now with a red to be drank fresh. And its a coloured wine. Intense aroma with a strong vegetal accompanied by the fruit, reminding us of raspberries and plumbs. So fresh in the mouth with light tannins. I liked the wine. It works very well at low temperatures (12º-14º), where it's beautiful acidity allows the wine to be a very good company at the table. I was reminded of the Summer warm days when we need a red to go along the grills. It looks like they were made to each other. |
